City will consider new water rate Wednesday

The City Council will consider a proposal on Wednesday night that will raise water rates $12.60 a month to pay off the loan for a new water plant. That meeting starts at 7 p.m. at City Hall. The $4.1 million project to construct the new plant will require annual payments of $153,050 per year for 40 years and that is the increase necessary to make that payment, based on the number of water customers the city had in November of 2006.
