Merry Christmas!

The City Hall Christmas Party is today and the office will be closed Monday & Tuesday. Our kids and grandkids are coming to the lake next week. We hope to put out juglines and catch a few catfish and just play with the grandsons. Here's hoping the Holiday Season will be filled with family and love.

City Hall Holiday Schedule- More

City Hall will be closed on December 25th and 26th and January 1-2 for the Holidays.
A video tower inspection crew was in town today with an underwater camera inspecting both water towers and the ground storage unit. We are also having some lift station problems at Arrowhead and the guys are working on that this morning.

City Changes Raw Water Intake Again!

The city crew completed another extension of the raw water intake line this week and, we are now taking water 450 feet North of where we took water in September of 2005.
That's how low the lake is.
A reminder, City Hall will be closed Dec 25 and 26 and January 1-2 for the Christmas Holidays.

Parade Cold & Cool

The Lake Area Christmas Parade was a good event. Twelve floats entered and the big winners were Rustic Oaks Park, the Hunt County Tax Office and the Tawakoni Area Library. The attendance was down somewhat from last year but the floats looked good going by at night with the lake in the background (way in the background as the water levels continue to fall).

Parade is Saturday

The annual Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade is Saturday at the City Park at dark. I looked at the long range forecast a few minutes ago and it will be cold, but not too bad. There will be plenty of candy tossed from floats for the kids and it is a neat event. Santa photos will be available for the kids and plenty of hot chocolate. It should be fun.

Lake Sets New All Time Low Mark

As of Dec. 1st, Lake Tawakoni stood at 425.42, losing almost six inches in elevation since Oct. 27th (and we have had some rain during that time). The lake is at 56.7 percent of capacity and when the lake falls below 50 percent, SRA will implement extreme conditions.
November-January is normall a wet period for us and we did not receive much rain in November.

First Wintry Blast

We skipped the bad stuff but the Lake area had a hard freeze Thursday night. The annual night time Christmas Parade is December 9 at dark at the City Park.
