Missed the Big Rain... Again!

Storms everywhere Tuesday night and we missed them. Checked the real time lake level this morning and we picked up .2 feet of water. We did hear reports of a decent rain around celeste and if it did fall in the right place, we should run some water into the lake over the next day or so- but we will still be 6 plus feet low.
The City Council renewed my contract last night which just tickles me to death. Melanie and I really enjoy being here and I love what I do.
Looks like the weekend weather will be great for fishing and Melanie's brother Matt is coming in friday afternoon and he's ready to take home some fillets.

Aggie Muster

Joey, Allison and Case traveled with us to College Station for the Campus Muster Service. We met Mom, Glenn and Suzy and Dinetha at mom's house. Muster is a solemn service where roll call is made and someone answers "here" for a former student. We got back home early sunday morning and I took nephew John, his wife Sherry and daughter Sydney on a short fishing trip. As often happens on the boat, the girls easily outfished the boys.
City Council meets Tuesday at 7 at City Hall.

Storm misses West Tawakoni- Case's 1st Birthday Party

The worst of the Friday storm missed West Tawakoni. Right here in town we had 1/2 to 1 inch of rain and very small hail. Lots of others in the area had it a lot worse.
We spent Friday night in Cleburne babysitting Case while Joey and Allison took prom photos, Saturday night in Abilene and Sunday we went to Case's 1st birthday party. I don't have photos yet (I was running Joey's video camera) but will post when he emails me a couple. It was such a blessing to spend so much time with those three and Case was just a hoot. Joey and I watched one his former Cleburne baseball players who now attends Hardin Simmons as they beat Howard Payne which brought back many fond memories of Joey playing baseball for both schools. Great weekend trip.

Case Turns One Tomorrow

Case will be a year old Wednesday. His big bash is Sunday in Abilene (home of those "rookie" grandparents). Allison and Joey brought Case to the lake this past weekend and he had a great time. He liked climbing stairs, eating everything in sight, playing with tupperware, looking out the windows at birds, his dogs and whatever else the moment called for.

More Spring at Tawakoni

When we purchased our house two years ago here, the realtor had an unfair advantage. The azaleas were blooming. Last year with the drought, they were not nearly as spectacular, but this year, as you can see, they are doing what they do best. I have always like watching The Masters Golf Tournament because of the azaleas, but now I can see them in my own yard.

Contractor Walks Away from Water Plant Job

I had a very frustrating event late Thursday afternoon. The contractor who was supposed to build our new water plant said he could no longer keep his bid price, a cost adjustment was not alllowed and he walked off the job. Closing was set for 10 a.m. today (April 9). I won't say it puts us back to square one, but it is a definate setback.
The enginneer is already busy preparing new bid documents.

Recent rains raise lake almost 2 feet

Tawakoni's elevation was 431.35 feet at 8:15 a.m. April 4 Which means the lake is now 6.15 feet low.
We plan on trying to catch some crappie this weekend as Joey, Allison and Case will be here. Can't wait.

Glenn, Dinetha and Cloy

Upholding the Texas Tradition of family photos with spring flowers, the three Richards siblings posed on a colored hillside near Navasota. Drving home Sunday afternoon, I saw the scene replayed several times. Photo was taken by Dinetha's granddaughter Kaitlyn. Mom stayed in the car to guard the turtle.

Albino Bluebonnet

We did spot some albino bluebonnets on the drive. The "yellow" paint brush escaped us. Brother Glenn did rescue a "red ear slider" turtle from the highway and he released him near the tank at his house. Last I heard, my sister's granddaughter had named him Speedy.

Texas Wildflowers

I went to College Station this past weekend to visit with my family. Sunday morning, we drove over to Navasota and Washington on the Brazos State Park to look at the wild flowers. Hard to beat the bluebonnet/paintbrush combination.
