The gang outside of the Venetian

Here' a shot of us minus Glenn. Someone had to take the picture.

Vegas Baby!

This is a shot inside the Venetian- that is a huge place. My sister Dinetha and her husband John presented the family a trip to Vegas and we went this past weekend. Along for the fun were Mom, Glenn and Suzy and Melanie and I. We stayed at the Venetian, saw the Love Show at the Mirage (which was incredible eye candy) and had a couple of very good meals. Mom came away the slot machine overall winner but brother Glenn won the penny slot machine tournament. A great trip for us. Dinetha and John got a couple of extra days in Vegas when a storm on the east coast cancelled their flight.

New Water Lines & Water Bill in letter form this month

City crews are busy extending replacement water lines into the Bella Vista subdivision area. They have been busy doing the road bores lately.
This month, water bills will come in a standard number 10 envelope as we will be notifying the public of new water rates, a TCEQ public notice and a city hall newsletter.

Thanks to the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce

I appreciate the invitation to speak to the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce last night in Quinlan. We had a nice exchange and a good question and answer session. I had a good time and always look forward to an opportunity to tell folks what's happening around City Hall.

The City Council approved a new water rate Tuesday night that will add $12.60 per month to each water connection to pay off the $4 million water plant. The annual payments are $153,050 per year.
That rate will go into effect on the loan closing date with the United States Department of Agriculture, expeced sometime in March.
The city accepted eight applications under the HOME Program Wednesday. If you or someone you know still wants to take a shot at the program, the deadline to have an application completed is Feb. 28th

Election Filing Starts, HOME Applications Wednesday

Filing openes today for the May 12 City Council elections. Three council members will be elected.
The City Council meets Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a regular meeting. Council members will hold a public hearing on a water rate increase to fund the new water plant.
On Wednesday at 9 a.m., the City will start taking applications from local homeowners for the HOME program, which will build new homes or make major repairs for the low income residents of West Tawakoni. Call city hall for more information.
I attended a workshop in Austin last week to go over details of changes to the HOME Program.
Got a chance to visit my mother in College Station after the meetings and then traveled to Clebure for a short visit with Allison, Joey and new grandson Case.
