Weekend Trip to Cleburne & Glenn Rose
Melanie, Joey, Allison, Case, and I went over to Glenn Rose on Saturday for their Fall Festival on the courthouse square. Case was a Silly Bug for his first Halloween. We had a great visit with the kids and grandson and it was hard to go home Sunday. We had a picnic in their back yard in Cleburne on Sunday so the mobile fish cooker was in action again.

Crazy Week- Beautiful Thursday Evening
I have been pretty much preparing reports and contracts this week for the HOME Program (where we will construct five homes for the low income residents under a federal grant) and working on an emergecy response plan for the new water plant. I feel like it is the middle of May and we are preparing budgets. So, after work yesterday, Melanie and I were sitting in the back porch and decided a boat ride was in order. No wind, lots of clouds, lighting in the distance and a sunset. It was very nice.

It's raining today!
Had a little rain last night but we are getting a good rain right now at City Hall. Of course, we need a lot. It is supposed to be a beautiful weekend but pretty windy between now and Friday evening. I guess this rain means we will all have to mow at least one more time before winter.

City Moving Raw Water Intake Again!
For the fourth time in a little over a year, the City of West Tawakoni is making plans to move the location of where we take raw water. City crews, over the next two weeks, will be extending 300 feet of line out further into the lake. With the 300 feet of additional pipe, the city will only get to a lake depth of 5 feet, 2 inches.

Indian Summer?
While driving down Rabbit Cove Road earlier today, I noticed some Indian paintbrushes blooming. I know the weather has been a little crazly lately but to fool wildflowers is something else.

Great Weekend at the Lake
The Lake Fest came off well Saturday. The petting zoo sponsored by the Quinlan FFA was a hit. The Chamber of Commerce pulled off a good event and a lof of folks had nothing but good things to say about the improvements in the park, especially the new bathrooms. Parks & Wildlife is working on the boat launch on our side of the two mile bridge, taking advantage of the low water to make improvements.
Melanie and I fished Friday after work and caught 31 keepers and then Saturday after lake fest we kept 20 more. We were catching white bass and hybrids trolling the hellbender/pet spoon combination fishing near the Terrell Pump Station. We got a lot of house work done on Sunday and even cleaned up the boat and ended the weekend with our Sunday evening fish fry.

What's Happening
The Big Lake Fest is this weekend. The Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the event and there will be a beauty pageant for kids, horseshoe-volleyball-kid's casting and basketball competitions, food booths, music and vendors. Looks like we will have nice weather for the events. The Festival is Saturday and activities start at 10 a.m.
The City Council will not meet on the 24th. We only had one item on the agenda and the Mayor said we can take care of it at the next meeting. Police Chief Jack Schultz had a very nice letter to the editor in this edition of the local newspaper.
The City Council will be holding a planning meeting, hopefully pretty soon in November. It is a chance for council members to set goals and priorities. That meeting, as well as all, will be open to the public.

Starting This Blog
As some of you know, I am the City Administrator for the City of West Tawakoni. I wanted a blog to have a way to communicate what is happening in our city and around the lake. This is an exciting time as the area is starting to be "discovered" by homeowners and investors alike. The City has several projects upcoming in the next couple of years and almost weekly someone walks in to City Hall with an idea. We will be constructing a new water plant, have two projects at the city park, will be building five homes for low income residents, as well as a project to rehabilitate lift stations. Since coming here in May of 2005, my wife and I have fallen in love with the lake and fish it often and tall fishing tales will also become a part of this blog. Many of our family members have visited and have also become hooked on fishing.
